The Polar Express

This weekend we headed to the mountains with some friends to ride The Polar Express.  We stayed in a nice cabin, watched a Christmas movie and even made Gingerbread Ninjas!

 We somehow managed to get one family picture.

 The big boys were quite impressed when Santa made an appearance on our train!

1st Haircut

In early Sept. I had planned to take Jackson for his 1st haircut after his nap.  But on this day, he decided he wasn't going to nap at the regular time so I took him after lunch.  When we got there he wasn't so sure about sitting in the big chair all by himself.  The stylist helped me brib him by giving him his 1st lollie pop!

Still not quite sure about this whole experience.

The funniest part of this whole experience was that Jackson refused to sit up so the pictures stop here.  Eventually I had Jackson sit in my lab so that they could cut the back of his head. 

He wasn't happy about the situation, but he didn't completely melt down either.  Overall it was a good first haircut.

A Reader After All

I’ve been trying to get Jackson to sit and read with me for months.  Then this morning I decided to read The Help while he played with his toys.  After playing with all the toys that I had set out, he started pulling his children’s books off the self.  This time he wasn’t just pulling them and making a mess of thing but actually ‘reading’ the books. 

One by one he began to bring them over to me.  I asked him if he wanted to read them.  I, of course, expected to read 1 to 2 pages and then have him move on to something different but he didn’t.  He placed himself in my lap and remained there not only through one book but 3!  Maybe I’ll have a reader after all.
